Project Description

Box Makers Yard is right in the heart of Temple Quarter, Bristol’s new urban neighbourhood. Sitting on the site of the historic Atlas Works cabinet makers, the project comprises 375 apartments across two distinct buildings, Rosewood and Dovetail.

We joined the project in early 2017 as Legal & General acquired the neighbouring site on Avon Street and were asked to design all of the apartment interiors as well as the 8,000 sqft of amenity space.

With two buildings, the development needed a strong strategic approach across the ground floors to provide a cohesive and legible set of shared spaces.

Our concept for the communal space was to create a series of different scale, open rooms, each defined by moveable cabinets. The circulation linking the two lift cores runs along the façade and in creates an animated panoramic frontage onto Avon street.
